Special Announcements
Important Update, June 3, 2026
Over the past several days, we’ve received a lot of questions and concerns regarding the recent request for NEW CUSTOMER account information.
Please understand this has been a huge misunderstanding.
The sole purpose and intent of this request was never to make things harder on our existing long-term customers that have years of proven payment history.
This effort to obtain this information from NEW CUSTOMERS was meant to improve overall record keeping and strengthen accountability, and make sure Albany Municipal Water Works is operating the way it should for generations to come.
For our existing long term proven customers with an established payment history, updated account information will be appreciated but will not be required due to your proven payment history.
For new accounts moving forward, customers will have the option of either providing the requested identifying information or paying a $200 deposit to establish service.
Although existing customers will not be required to update their information at this time, we do encourage it.
Keeping your account information current helps ensure your account is connected to the correct person, prevents future issues, and allows us to better serve you when questions or concerns arise.
Our goal has never been to create more obstacles. In fact, our goal is the exact opposite. We want to make doing business with Albany Municipal Water Works as simple, efficient, and customer-friendly as possible while also protecting the utility for future generations.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve our community and customers.
